Night Visions brings in Norwegian thrillers

This spring, Night Visions -festival hits back with a force. 32 movies from 16 different countries. The 20-year-old festival also expands to more theatres than ever. The new hosts for screenings will be Culture Factory Korjaamo and Culture Arena Gloria.

So here we are. With a new, dark superhero called Rendel, and its first teaser trailer. First of all, superheroes aren’t exactly my thing. But when a superhero film emerges from such an unlikely place as Finland, it’s bound to be interesting.

Night Visions offers horror, sexual fantasies and iconic classics

The film festival year gets wrapped up in style, as Night Visions Maximum Halloween 3015 -festival brings to table its wicked mixture of genre film in Helsinki from Wednesday November 4th until Sunday November 8th.

44 feature films, mostly premieres, will be screened in Maxim and Kinopalatsi film theatres during the five day festival. HIFF 2015: Extraordinary Tales

Raul Garcia’s animated anthology of Edgar Allan Poe’s stories, Extraordinary Tales, was actually my first pick at this years festival. There’s a couple of good reasons. HIFF 2015: The Lobster and Drone – a Dive into the Surreal

HIFF 2015: Turbo Kid

Off we go. My first screening at the annual Helsinki International Film Festival was the action sci-fi movie Turbo Kid. Lots of hype and positive anticipation surrounded this movie prior screening, and I’m not gonna lie – I hate hype. So the movie probably lost some of its edge before I’d even seen one frame of it.
